Leaders of World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) and South East Asian Cooperation (SEACO) Foundation have lauded the economic progress of Bangladesh.
The appreciation came when a seven-member delegation of WIEF and SEACO Foundation, led by WIEF Secretary General Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, paid a call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her Ganabhaban residence in the city on Wednesday, reports UNB.
Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.
The delegation said they had productive dialogues at the WIEF-SEACO Foundation roundtable held at a city hotel with the theme “Regional Collaboration: Transforming Economies,” on Tuesday.
The WIEF Secretary General invited the prime minister to join the next WIEF conference to be held in Qatar in 2020.
He proposed Bangladesh to host the WIEF conference in 2021.
The prime minister appreciated the agenda of the roundtable jointly organized by WIFE and SEACO Foundation.
Sheikh Hasina said the government is now setting up 100 economic zones across the country for creating jobs and industrialization.
She said lands in the economic zones are now being allocated for foreign investors alongside local entrepreneurs.
Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Md Nojibur Rahman were present at the time, among others.
